Winmau Cyclone darts. It's such a good theory you reduce bounce-outs by making the point able to move in, out and rotate. How it works is that when the dart point starts to slow, either by penetrating the dartboard or by stopping more suddenly (such as in a bounce-out), the rest of the dart catches up to the point and hammers it in.

Where it goes wrong is that the dart is now very difficult to remove from the board because it's hammered itself in about an inch in the same way a lump hammer works on picture hooks (long story). This wouldn't normally be a problem, you'd just twist the dart slightly and out it pops without damaging the board, but because the point twists as well you have to start thinking about claw hammers...

I can see why Winmau let it rotate: rotation is far easier (and cheaper) to engineer than keeping them straight when setting points to go in and out. I also hear from friends (who I should of course have spoken to before buying) that after a couple of months of play, the points will get all wobbly .

Winmau have described these as professional level darts. I don't know if this is because professionals would be expected to replace their darts after a couple of games or if it would have more to do with the damage I suspect they can do to a board.

The only good news is that I can offer this as a cautionary tale; and that there's a charity shop on my way to work.
