if your darts are really bent (and you don't refer to "wobble" during flight), and you are not talking about something hardly noticable, then you've, unfortunately, bought crap.
this "extender" stuff you are referring to also tends to be more crappy than useful. by the way, 16gr is not a recommended weight to start with. probably your darts are soft tip, so you should go as heavy as allowed. generally, a good weight for beginners would be somewhere in the 21-24 gram region. weight helps develop a good technique.
nickel / silver is also a strange combination. this should either be nickel / tungsten or silver / tungsten.
anyway, for $35 you should get a decent set of nickel / tungsten darts.
so, most probably, the person who sold you this has really plucked a newbie...
