Hi, as some of you know I have been playing the game of darts for less than 3 months. I am now averaging 70.1 per 3 darts in 501...which is very quick progress.
The league I'm in isn't very competitive and the teams are quick to criticise if you dont play your best, yet they cant play to your level anyway. I want to be able to enter competitions individually against some great players, and a thought crossed my head.
I contacted the PDPA (Professional Darts Players Association) to find out what specific criteria has to be met to be a member. There are no specific requirements as long as you can fork out the money for membership and tourneys etc. It's £200 membership, and £55 entry into any PDC qualifier.
I'd like everyones advice, into what I should do. Do I pay the money to play the big guys (potentially) or do I wait.
I never want to play Super League or County, as they are BDO/WDF ran competitions, and I dislike the BDO (An Interview with Dave Whitcombe changed my views on BDO quite drastically) and PDC don't have a county championship so the only thing to do is register with PDPA.
I'm wondering what your advice is...bearing in mind my averages and how long I've been playing. There's argument to say that someone may take me under their wing as Phil Taylor has with Adrian Lewis, Van Barneveld with Klassen etc. Who knows?
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Baz
