it is simple to repoint darts just use a pot rivet gun to take points out they just pop out . i have done two sets tonight, superglue new points in if loose they will last forever//no problem // : Well done ken. No mystery ref pulling points out - straight into a vice and a pair of pliers twisting
: motion to pull out.
:
: Too much hi tec crap in the game today. my team mate woody still make his shafts from garden cane!! Old fart- but still greatb arrers

: : Thanks for the opportunity to post. Way lower in the messages there was a discussion on the pros and cons to re-doing fixed pointed darts.
: : Here is a cut and paste of the discounter, and my reply, as the thread is "down there" (I just found the forum today)
: :
: : Nice post, but a little inaccurate. Re-pointing fixed pointed darts is child's play, it's that easy.
: : It's just like many things: purposely kept a mystery, to sell 200.00 re-pointing "machines"...or have the sport spend 10-15 dollars (these are CAD) and a week in the mails to have a "shop" do the work.
: : I've seen those re-pointing machines in action, and wow, what a hassle they are, especially in front of a crowd at a tournament, when they fail.
: : My approach is very low tech. Point removal: a carpenter's claw hammer !!! Point installation: a piece of Babbitt metal, an old aluminum shaft, and the hammer again. Screw the shaft into the dart, insert the new point in the barrel, and tap her home nice and easy/softly/gently in the soft babbitt. Bob's yer uncle!!!!
: : (I'm leaving out some technology with regards the extraction...you just cannot yank out the point with the hammer... there's a little trick there...but it's still just the hammer, and a "ladies aid".. My secret, for now.) Heres' the negative post on points:
: :
: : : Dont kid yourself, there are no 'easy' methods to re-pont steel tip darts. No barrels are commercially manufactured with the intention of punters replacing the points, when the points go, they want you to buy another set! you need to consider not only how to repoint a dart, but also how to get the old one out! i've seen more barrels damaged by clumsy repointing than anything else, so tread carefully.
